Hello everyone! Long time, no blog posts :( It's been a while since I last posted in this thing. I was way too caught up in life, I guess. That's no excuse though! I missed the monthly favorites post, along with a lot of Insta-fashion posts that I should've been doing! Now I'm back on track! I kind of thought long and hard about this blog because I was kind of lost in terms of the direction I wanted to take. I wanted it to be a lifestyle blog but I found myself too caught up in the 'style' portion of it all and not really showing people that I've got some hidden talents. Now that I have a true idea of where I want to go, expect a lot more tutorials, recipes and fashion posts.
Aside from that, here's a brand spankin' new tutorial! It's all about huuuurrr. I love doing hair as a hobby. I'm pretty much known as Rachel's personal hairstylist by now because whenever she has somewhere to go or a party to attend, she calls me. I love doing updos, downdos, dye jobs...basically anything! So, this past weekend she had a 1920's Gatsby party to attend. There were plenty of hairstyles to choose from but there was one hairstyle that is prrrreeetty well known...the bob. Now, Rachel has long hair... very very long hair. She really didn't want to chop it all off so I made my best attempts at a 'faux bob'. I wanna thank Sean for taking all these awesome pics! He did an amazing job of capturing all types of different angles for you guys and he was also super patient through it all! So PLEASE, sit back and enjoy this roarin' 20's hairdo!
Products you'll need:
Paddle brush
Curler
Teasing comb
TONS of bobby pins
Plenty of hairspray
Heat protectant spray
Clear hair elastics
Here's Rachel before!
First things first, you wanna comb your hair.
Separate your hair. 1/3 of your hair on top and 2/3 of your hair on bottom. Section the bottom hair into three sections.
Tease each section, focusing mostly on your roots.
Make sure to hairspray between teases.
Make a braid on the lower ends of your hair and tie with your clear elastics.
Make sure to use the one leg in bathtub technique.
Braid the remaining sections.
This part is a little tricky. Begin to roll your hair towards your scalp. I did tight rolls because I wanted the hair to have a strong hold, I really wanted this hairstyle to last all night long.
After rolling the hair, bobby pin the hair to the scalp.
Continue to do this technique to the rest of the braids.
Let the other section of your hair down and spray generously with heat protectant spray.
Curl the remaining hair.
Hairspray!
After you're done curling and hairspraying, comb through your curls with your paddle brush.
Separate your curls with your fingers.
This part can get a little tricky. Carefully take the longer pieces of hair and begin pinning them. Do this by taking the excess hair and rolling it and pinning it with the other rolled hair.
Gather the longer hairs in the back and tie with an elastic band. Then use the same rolling technique you initially started with and roll the hair until it is the desired length.
Curl your bangs.
Add a cute headpiece.
And....VOILA!
I hope you guys found this somewhat entertaining and fun! It's not only great for a themed party but for those long haired gals that wanna try something new!
Until next time guys, ciao bella!
